Blazing Concert Review – ANTHONY DAVID – A B Cyde Interpretation

In the days of mega sales for superstars whose tickets cost massive amounts of dollars for the nose bleeds seats, it is rare to have an opportunity to sit in a small, quaint, dimly lit café and just be swooned by a guy and his guitar. Last weekend, however, I was blessed with a one-night-only, up close and personal performance by arguably one of the most real, soulful, underrated musicians today, Anthony David and I loved his show just as much, if not more so than his music. In Detroit’s legendary Music Hall’s Jazz Café, I attended the second show after braving through a snowstorm to see this brother whose music is in heavy rotation on my radio show Back on the B Cyde (airing Saturdays at 11 AM on 7mileradio.com) and he did not disappoint.  Opening the show with his upbeat ode to a woman he is trying to get next to, Let Me In, to his soul-stirring live rendition of his ballad, A Beautiful Problem, he had the entire room totally enamored by his raspy vocals and signature clever lyrics and guitar riffs. He was a complete delight and also appeared to be having just as much fun as his audience when he bought a girl in the crowd a drink during his show. David even summoned up audience members to join in the ballroom hustle on stage with him as he sang his mega-hit, Forever More thus adding to his down-home flava as he joked openly with the audience throughout the show.

After the show, Anthony David put his guitar down and sat on the edge of the stage to meet, greet and speak with every audience member that waited around for pictures. In fact, he was such a pleasure to meet, it made folks want to purchase the t-shirt apparel of the company that produced the event Urban Organic. Shout out to Urban Organic for giving Detroit a great show and super cool t-shirts displaying the phrase I Do It For the Culture! If you are not familiar with the vocal styling of Anthony David, I suggest that you start at his collection Red Clay Chronicles and go from there for a true authentic neo-soul delight indeed because everything he touches is surely soul gold!!!!!
