Used-To-Bee’s Don’t Make NO Honey!
Remember back when we used-to-be? Yes, sure you remember. Yet as bad as people always want you to remember the good ole days, they seem to forget that times have, will and always do change. It’s great to take random trips down memory lane as long as we don’t allow others to keep us stuck there in that space and time. As we get older I should hope we evolve like the planet and with any luck get better. Oftentimes, though people love to keep others in the space that they are familiar with rather than get to know who they are in the moment and accept that good, bad or indifferent. It is our job to enjoy the journey but make them move on. That’s not always easy. Especially for those of us in the Mo Betta phase where we are called to frequent reunions, homecomings, retirement parties and unfortunately funerals. Those are the events when we are most likely to run into folks we haven’t seen or corresponded with in a number of years. It’s those moments when folks like to speak ultra-highly of the Use-To-Be life and times of yesteryear. A great way to push people off the path of memory lane after they’ve been in travel too long for your liking, just laugh it off. Tell them, “Yeah that’s how I used-to-be but you know Used-To-Bee’s don’t make no honey…Honey!” Then wait and see how long it takes them to get your point. In the event they don’t get it, you get to decide if it’s worth buzzing them in.
