7mile Radio attends Town Hall Meeting with WXYZ Channel 7

WXYZ Channel 7’s Glenda Lewis and Carolyn Clifford, arranged a virtual town hall meeting with several community leaders in the state of Michigan. The discussion was centered on race relations within the state and around the country. Among the panelists, were Attorney Eric Williams (Detroit Justice Center), Dr. Darienne Hudson (President of United Way Southeastern Michigan), Dr. Vitti (Superintendent of DPSCD), Deputy Chief Todd Bettison (DPD), Marc D’Andre (CEO of 7mile Radio), and Chuck Stokes (WXYZ Editorial Director). The town hall meeting was aired on WXYZ Channel 7, Wednesday, June 24th, at 7:00 p.m.. Glenda Lewis and Carolyn Clifford lead the discussion with several questions, to gain the panelists perspectives about issues regarding race relations. The panelists had very interesting responses. Their responses varied around the subjects of protests, police reform, education and literacy, funding of departments, racial profiling, social change, political change and voting, culture and other topics. Along with their perspectives, panelists gave input on strategies that could be put in place to combat the issues. Everyone left the discussion with positive statements, and something they’ve gained from the discussion as well. The virtual town hall meeting was also streamed live via Facebook, from WXYZ Channel 7’s Facebook page.
