The Detroit Historic Museum proves to be an ideal setting for this remarkable event, not only because it pays tribute to Marc and 7 Mile Radio but also because it is the very location where Marc first delved into media production. It was in 2006 when Marc had the privilege of working on one of his inaugural projects, capturing the memories of his cousin LaTonya‘s wedding. Graduating from broadcast school that same year, Marc’s journey toward becoming a media mogul has been paved with passion and determination.

While establishing 7 Mile Radio, an independent media outlet aimed at amplifying local voices, Marc always held a desire to inspire and guide young individuals in the field of media arts. This dream is intricately woven into the fabric of his personal and professional aspirations. Marc fondly recalls his high school band director, Jeffery “Baby Huey” Smith who intoduced him to Akiem Scruggs, an A&R executive from So So Def Records, who became his mentor during high school. Scruggs played an instrumental role in shaping Marc’s career trajectory, instilling in him the drive and knowledge to excel in the industry.

Through the media production and podcast workshop, he aims to motivate and inspire these students, offering them the chance to engage in a productive and fulfilling activity that aligns with their interests and aspirations. By sharing his expertise and passion, Marc hopes to foster a new generation of media professionals who will carry the torch of creativity and influence the community positively.

The workshop itself promises to be an exciting opportunity for the Job Corps students, providing them with firsthand insights into the media production process. Marc plans to guide them through the intricacies of podcasting, video production, and storytelling, equipping them with the necessary skills to express their ideas effectively. By supporting their interests and providing them with practical knowledge, Marc aspires to empower these youngsters to find their unique voices and make a difference in their communities.

As Detroit continues to evolve, it is individuals like Marc D’Andre who embody the true spirit of the city. Their dedication to uplifting the community by offering mentorship and opportunities to the next generation is an inspiration to many. Through his media production workshop, Marc actively cultivates a pathway for success, proving that dreams can indeed be realized with hard work and determination.

As the seminar concludes, Job Corps students will leave with newfound confidence and an increased thrust to pursue their passions. With Marc D’Andre leading the charge, the future of media arts in Detroit looks brighter than ever before.
