While many folks are totally sleeping on the Detroit Jazz Music Scene, Mark Mixx and the Street Jazz Cartel have been making joyful jazz noise for quite some time now and show no signs of slowing down the magic with his latest release The Book of Mark IV. This collection is an absolute jazz music lover’s dream to listen to whether you are driving down I-75 or chillin’ in your living room with candles and a glass of wine. It makes you find a good time with a cozy and classy mix of musicianship that has been missing in mainstream music overall. This brother hailing from Detroit’s Pershing High School brings Sexy back to music and keeps it right there on each and every track. My Top 3 Head Bangers on the disc are; “Ryde With Me”, “Late Night Breeze” and “Sunny Dayz”. The Book of Mark IV is a soulful gumbo of instruments and artistry that takes your ears by storm and doesn’t let you go for about an hour. Oh but what a sweet hour it is! KUDOS to a Local Favorite Mark Mixx & The Street Jazz Cartel on another Jazz Job well done with The Book of Mark IV. I give it a hearty 5 Hearts because it’s a GREAT CD to listen to all the way through!
