Demonstration held at the House of the Mayor of Harper Woods

Another demonstration was held Sunday evening at around 5:00 p.m. in Harper Woods. This time, it was held outside of the home of the Mayor of the City of Harper Woods. In attendance, was Negus Vu of The People’s Action (organizer of the demonstration), Judah Awoke Ace of Truth Talk Nation, Teferi Brent, Tamara Liberty Smith, several activists and community supporters, and 7mile Radio (only for news coverage). The demonstration was held outside of the Mayor’s home, in regards to the incident that happened two days ago; when the Mayor’s wife allegedly ripped up a sign that belonged to one of the demonstrators at the Harper Woods Police Station. Demonstrators were also demanding for justice, and for answers behind the death of Priscilla Slater. Last week, it was reported that Priscilla Slater was found unresponsive in a cell at the Harper Woods Police Station. It was said, she was transported to an area hospital and pronounced dead. Reportedly, 6 employees of the Harper Woods Police Department have now been put on administrative leave. The family is still in need of answers, as to what happened to Priscilla. Demonstrators marched the streets around the Mayor’s home, demanding justice for Priscilla. Several signs were left on the lawn and around the Mayor’s home. It is unknown whether or not the Mayor and his wife were home at the time of the demonstration. We were able to get footage and photos at the demonstration.
