Governor announces Schools Back in Session and Celebration of Juneteenth

There was a press conference held this morning, in which Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced that public classroom learning can resume in Michigan. She expressed, how safety protocols have been put in place to avoid a second wave of Covid 19. It was said, the number of cases of Covid 19 have decreased in Michigan. The Governor stated, there is still work to do, and they are asking people to continue to wear masks and follow all precautions. She went on to say, we can resume some normal functions in life, as long as we are smart about it. In addition, Governor Whitmer announced that Juneteenth will now be celebrated in Michigan. June 19, 1865, was the emancipation day for African Americans who were enslaved; it was coined Freedom Day, and is now called Juneteenth.
