Zeek, founder of New Era Detroit, had an interview with Fox 2’s Randy Wimbley. In the interview, Zeek expressed how there is a need to address several problems in the community, alongside of police brutality. He explained how police brutality has been a major focus lately, but there are other important issues that need addressing as well. He went on to express how violence against children is a major problem in the community. Father’s Day, a man was shot, along with his 9 and 10 year old daughters. Gun violence against children has been a major problem in Detroit, according to reports. Zeek explained how there is a need to focus on this major issue, as opposed to issues that don’t need as much attention. He spoke on how presumably hundreds of people showed up to protest about the police shooting of Hakim Littleton, and how the same attention is needed for violence against children. Zeek is urging people not to get distracted, and to stay focused on all of the issues that plague our community. Here is the interview:
