Blazing Song Review – Footprints on the Moon by The Crossrhodes aka Wes Felton and Raheem DeVaughn

When it comes to modern-day R&B and Hip Hop music we ‘70’s babies (Representatives of the Mo’ Betta Generation) love to lean toward the argument that today’s music doesn’t “say” anything, anymore. While some of today’s most popular singles just might support that theory, all it takes is a little in-depth investigation into that urban musical “good-good” to discover that what we yearn for in R&B/Hip-Hop is really like the old Freddie Jackson song, “Just a Touch Away,” and I believe  I’ve found it in this one. A great new edition to the ranks of R&B/Hip-Hop Good-Good in “Footprints on the Moon” the single, performed by the collaborative efforts of the duo, The Cross Rhodes otherwise known as Raheem DeVaughn and Wes Felton. While I have not yet had the pleasure of hearing the new project of the same name in its entirety, this single makes me want to fire up my Visa and get that download popppin! This single is a lyrically delicious love song to all of urban America, yet it is uniquely reminiscent of that old school Mary-Jane enjoying the type of sound that marveled music lovers of the mid-1970’s and beyond. The groove is sick (in a damn good way), the lyrics provide deep thought and even deeper-seeded messages of productivity within and throughout our culture and as for the harmonies…it’s Raheem DeVaughn folks. Fans already know his melodically delicious deal and as always on this track, the brother doesn’t disappoint. I give this TUNE 5 STARS and 2 EARS to the speaker encouraging all to most definitely PUMP UP THE JAM!
