My take on the 2016  Underground Hip Hop Awards happens to be a delighted experience. This would of course be my first event in this caliber. I’m more of a Neo Soul, Jazz, R&B person, however I do love Classic Hip Hop. Although today some of the music being categorized as hip hop, it’s very hard to consider as such. The 2016  Underground Hip Hop Awards was sponsored by Mighty Jon Entertainment at the Hip Hop Headquarters Saint Andrews Hall in Downtown Detroit. I must say that it was very well organized for it to have been just the 2nd year running by the hard work of Uncle P and Brandon Scarber of DetroitRap.com.

Now if you consider yourself part of the Detroit Hip Hop sector and you were not present you really missed an exceptional night. From the DJ to the presenters, in addition to the Winners of the night and the Performances… let’s not forget about the performances! Detroit Hip Hop you should be very proud of yourself, I know I am!

The feature that made the whole night powerful was grasping how everyone and everything in all categories came together as one. The appreciation and mutual support that was reciprocated among the artist was something rare to see within the Detroit Hip Hop Community. The Universe took full circle in agreeing with the energy on the night of Jan 3 2016 for Detroit. Uncle P and Brandon Scarber has unquestionable set the tone for the 2017 Underground Hip Hop Awards and the Detroit Hip Hop community as a whole. I believe Detroit Hip Hop is definitely a Diamond In the Rough.
