Detroit, MI — A violent drive-by shooting occurred on the west side of Detroit shortly after 8 p.m. on July 18th, 2025, resulting in the death of a 40-year-old man. The incident took place near the intersection of Dexter and Collingwood, with authorities still seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect.
According to a witness who was present at the scene, the shooting unfolded on Collingwood Street, near the corner of Wildemere. The witness described seeing a man wearing a hoodie riding a bicycle approach a parked minivan, where the victim was sitting. The attacker reportedly fired multiple shots into the van, prompting the victim to speed off down Collingwood Street, crossing Dexter.
The victim then proceeded to the parking lot of a nearby Citgo gas station, where he subsequently crashed into a church. A friend of the victim, who witnessed the entire event, identified the deceased as approximately 40 years old. During a live stream by 7Mile Radio’s Marc D’andre covering the scene, a viewer commented that the victim was her cousin, adding a personal note to the tragic event.

The shooter remains at large, and authorities have issued an appeal for information from anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or has relevant details. The Detroit community has expressed condolences to the victim’s family during this difficult time, emphasizing the need for justice and increased safety measures in the neighborhood.
