Harper Woods, MI — A frightning incident occurred on Friday, July 18, 2025, involving a seven-year-old girl from Chandler Park Elementary School who was mistakenly sent home in a Lyft ride after summer school hours. The girl’s mother recounted that the confusion arose when the summer school coordinator incorrectly matched the child’s name with that of a teacher, leading to the child being placed in a ride meant for someone else.
According to her mother, the student was initially picked up from the summer school program at Chandler Park Elementary in Harper Woods. However, upon arriving at what the driver believed to be the intended destination, the student noticed that the house was unfamiliar and realized she was in the wrong location. The situation grew more alarming when the girl was told to exit the vehicle, and the driver tried to leave her at the incorrect house.
The student was supposed to be picked up by her Fathers sister at 3:15, who forgot about the pick-up.

Fortunately, the driver recognized that the girl appeared visibly frightened and decided to take her back to the school. The girl was returned to Chandler Park after approximately 45 minutes, where the incident was promptly reported to her parent.
Today, the mother and grandmother attended a meeting with school administration to discuss the upsetting event. School officials confirmed that the incident is still under investigation and assured the family they would follow up to determine accountability—whether it involves the driver or school staff.
This incident has heightened concerns among local parents, especially given the rise in child trafficking.
