On July 23rd 2019 a group of black men entered the Shell Gas Station on West Warren and Southfield in Detroit, The gas station clerk claims he seen one of the men in the group steal a bag of chips from the business. As the group left, the clerk exited from behind the bulletproof glass, and opened fire from inside of the store thru the glass door while other customers were still inside striking one of the men in the group in the chest. the victim of the shooting was not the man in the group accused of stealing the chips.

Members of community organizations The Peoples Action and Black Man Stand held a peaceful “shutdown” demonstration outside of the location to raise awareness of the situation so that people in the immediate sounding area would not patronize the business.
