Patient Receiving the Worst Treatment at Receiving | Graphic Images

The family of a 73yr old patient films his condition at receiving hospital after him being admitted for having problems urinating. The elderly man was originally admitted into Receiving Hospital in August of 2021 for a major operation. After the surgery, he was sent to oak point skilled nursing center in Detroit where he was to undergo rehabilitation after the procedure. After being informed by staff at the nursing center that he was unable to be rehabilitated due to on-going pain from the operation he was sent back home to his family where they discovered severe bed sores on his body.

During the family’s attempts to nurse the wounds, they discovered the Watson was not urinating nor having bowl movements on the regular. They decided to take him back to Receiving for further examination. On the mans 3rd day back at the hospital, when his family attempted to reach out to the hospital staff in regards to updates on his condition, they received no answer after repeated attempts.

The family took it upon themselves to to visit him at the hospital unannounced when they found him in his room alone, barley covered and lying in dried feces and urine. By now, The patient had developed stage 4 bed sores during the duration of his stay at the nursing home which the family believes due to the severity of the sores, began during his original stay at Receiving hospital but was never reported in his medical records nor was the family informed when he was released from Receiving after the operation.

Below are images sent to us from the patients’ family. The images show the state of the bedsores the 1st day he came home from the Oak Point Skilled Nursing Center, the progression of his injuries and the bed sheets he laid on just 3 days after being admitted back into Receiving Hospital.
